JTET Eligibility Criteria
To appear in the JTET examination, candidates should satisfy the following conditions:
- Must be an Indian citizen.
- Must possess the prescribed educational qualification for the respective paper.
- Should fulfill all conditions mentioned in the official JTET notification.
- Candidates appearing in the final year of the qualifying course may apply if permitted by the official notification.
JTET Eligibility for Paper 1 (Classes 1 to 5)
Candidates who wish to become Primary Teachers for Classes 1 to 5 should fulfill any one of the following educational qualifications:
- Senior Secondary (10+2) with the prescribed percentage of marks and a 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.).
- Senior Secondary (10+2) with the required marks and 4-Year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
- Senior Secondary (10+2) with the prescribed marks and 2-Year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- Graduation along with 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.), where applicable under the prescribed norms.
JTET Eligibility for Paper 2 (Classes 6 to 8)
Candidates who wish to become Upper Primary Teachers for Classes 6 to 8 should fulfill any one of the following qualifications:
- Graduation with 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.).
- Graduation with the prescribed marks and 1-Year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.).
- Graduation with the required marks and 1-Year B.Ed. (Special Education).
- Senior Secondary (10+2) with the prescribed marks and 4-Year B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. or B.A.B.Ed./B.Sc.B.Ed.
- Graduation with any other qualification recognized under the applicable NCTE guidelines.
